It’s 11:03 pm on the 30th of December and I’ve been thinking.

Did you know that there were over 2 Trillion searches in 2023 on Google alone?! Shocking right?

And that’s just Google. Not ChatGPT. Not Youtube. Not Reddit or any of the others.

What exactly are people searching for?!

Maybe they want to find out what something is. Maybe they want to find out what something means. Or maybe they just want to learn something new.

That sounds fair and good. But it makes me think. What did I learn? What did I learn in the year 2023?

Without providing any context, these are my 19 takeaways from the year 2023:

  1. Momentum is everything. If you have it, don’t lose it. If you don’t have it, do what you can to get it.
  2. Most things are not as deep as they seem but some things are deeper than they seem. Learn to identify which is which.
  3. Intelligence is easy. Pick something you want to learn more about, continuously expose yourself to high-quality content about the subject matter from different sources, understand it and you’d be surprised what comes out of your mouth.
  4. Compounding works for almost everything. Not just investments.
  5. Distribution is often as important as the product. If not, more important.
  6. You won’t die. Trust me.
  7. Don’t die. Trust me.
  8. Don’t underestimate where iteration can lead you.
  9. Expose your mind to new points of views.
  10. Intensity is powerful. Knowing when to be intense is even more powerful.
  11. People buy with their emotions and justify with logic.
  12. At every moment, there’s a problem. Sometimes it’s a big problem, other times it’s a small one. Don’t sweat it.
  13. Sometimes, the ground beneath you needs to disappear for you to learn how to fly. If not you’ll probably never jump.
  14. Beware of people. Be aware of them, their motivations and angles. That is the secret to staying safe and also the secret to great partnerships.
  15. Invest in yourself. It’s you. You’re the secret sauce.
  16. People are paying attention more than you think but not as much as you think.
  17. ‘Everybody get wetin dey do them”. It’s not that deep
  18. Always evaluate the impact in a business by what brings money and what saves money
  19. Find your anchors. Your family, friends and hobbies that bring you back to Earth.

What will I learn in 2024? I have no idea. I just know what I know now and that is what I’m going into 2024 with.
